"Transformation occurs when strategy meets execution to deliver business value."

Roderick L. Wilson

Executive Profile

An industrial engineer who builds the management systems behind results.

I started as an industrial engineer in GE Capital and GE Aircraft Engines leadership programs. That training still shapes how I work. I look for the system behind the result, then build the governance, accountability and leadership bench that keep the result in place after the program ends.

Since then I have led transformation inside Bank of America, Marsh, Early Warning, NTT Data and Centene. I have governed alongside CEOs, COOs, CFOs and CTOs, run two of the banking industry's largest post-acquisition integrations, and helped bring a new national payments network to market.

At Centene I progressed from a Director-level individual contributor to Senior Director, building the enterprise Process Improvement and Process Design organization that supported Claims, Member Services, Configuration and Provider Experience. My healthcare work spans health plan operations, provider experience, claims, configuration, service recovery and enterprise performance improvement, including initiatives relevant to Medicare Advantage quality and experience objectives.

Centene: Enterprise Operational Excellence and Transformation Governance

Senior Director, Business Transformation
$54MFinance-validated benefits
18+ to <9 moLarge-initiative cycle time
80%+On-time initiative delivery

Built and led the enterprise Process Improvement and Process Design organization across Membership, Enrollment & Billing, Claims, Provider Data Management & Experience, and Configuration.

Selected outcomes

  • Produced about $54M in Finance-validated benefits: roughly $14M in 2024, $22M in 2025 and $18M through September 2026.
  • Designed and installed one management system for the portfolio: standardized intake, business cases, scoring on financial merit, strategic alignment and execution readiness, resource allocation, tollgates and benefit validation, with weekly VP-level review.
  • Cut large-initiative cycle time from more than 18 months to under nine, and held on-time delivery above 80%.
  • Governed 27 active initiatives, about 18 projects a year, and a 33-opportunity pipeline. More than 20% of ideas failed initial scoring, which kept capacity on the highest-value work.
  • Led six direct reports and a fully remote organization of 60+. Developed four leaders through seven promotions and prepared two potential successors for the Senior Director role.

Executive impact. A scalable Operational Excellence capability that connected enterprise strategy, prioritization, resource allocation, execution governance and measurable financial value.

Centene: AI-Enabled Provider Experience Transformation

Operating-model design and cross-functional governance
$4.7MOperating-cost benefit
30%+Lower issue volume, year over year
31%+Faster issue resolution

Led the operating model and governance for a Repeat Issue Intelligence capability that finds recurring provider issues, speeds root-cause analysis and prevents systemic problems before they repeat.

Selected outcomes

  • Deployed across 15 of 33 health plans, combining internally developed AI language-learning capabilities with a ServiceNow scoped application.
  • Governed the work across seven functions: Provider Experience, Health Plan Operations, Claims, IMRO, Process Improvement, Data Analytics and IT.
  • Reduced recurring global and systemic issues identified by the model by more than 17%.
  • Enabled a 45% reduction or reallocation of Provider Experience resources in participating plans, and surfaced 16+ additional improvement opportunities.

"I approach AI and automation as enablers of business transformation, not standalone technology projects. The goal is to make operational problems visible earlier, improve decision quality, reduce recurring issues and deliver measurable enterprise value."

Executive impact. Provider issue management moved from fragmented, reactive case handling to enterprise-wide issue intelligence and proactive root-cause prevention.

Early Warning: integrating three companies to enable a new payments ecosystem

Director, Business Transformation, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer. This is the engagement that best shows how I lead under C-suite visibility and real financial accountability.

The challenge

Early Warning's owner banks wanted a competitive person-to-person payments capability. Getting there meant combining Early Warning, Authentify and clearXchange into one organization, with aligned technology, processes, talent, governance and products.

My mandate

Recruited under NDA by the COO, I was responsible for leading the post-merger transformation, building the enterprise Transformation and PMO capability, and governing every initiative needed to reach the target operating model.

Leadership approach

I hired a 23-person team of senior program managers and transformation leaders, set up monthly steering with the CEO, CFO and CTO, and built one execution framework that tied strategic objectives to investment decisions, business cases, resources, milestones, risk and value realization. I presented portfolio health, financials, risks and decisions to the steering committee myself.

Measurable outcomes

BeforeThree organizations to integrate, competing workstream priorities, complex interdependencies and heavy pressure to meet strategic and financial commitments.

AfterOne governance capability overseeing 67 initiatives across Marketing, Fraud, Operations, IT Delivery and Customer Service. Critical legal, system and customer Day 1 milestones met in a nine-month integration.

Strategic impact

The transformation initiatives designed the operating-model capabilities for member services, enrollment and proactive fraud prevention that supported the on-time go-to-market launch of Zelle®.

Enterprise transformation takes more than project execution. Executives have to align on the strategic imperative, investment decisions have to be disciplined, and someone has to hold the organization to measurable outcomes.

Led design, validation and deployment of the Marsh Way Target Operating Model for brokerage placement, partnering with Cognizant on organization, roles, processes, workflows, technology and management routines.

Selected outcomes

How I Lead

Strategy, governance and people, run as one system

Enterprise transformation succeeds when strategic priorities become operating-model design, disciplined governance, accountable execution, measurable outcomes and leadership capability that lasts.

Connect strategy to execution

Every initiative traces back to an enterprise priority and forward to a measurable result.

Prioritize value over project volume

Fewer, better initiatives. Scoring on financial merit, alignment and readiness decides what gets resourced.

Make accountability transparent

Clear owners, visible portfolio health and governance that leaders can see without asking.

Find systemic risk early

Look for the recurring issue and the failure mode before they show up as cost or customer pain.

Build leaders who sustain it

Improvement holds when managers can run it themselves. Succession is part of the plan.

Distributed Leadership

Leading a fully remote organization

60+Professionals across multiple U.S. states and time zones, with six direct reports
"I have led geographically distributed teams of more than 60 professionals by establishing clarity of purpose, transparent accountability, disciplined operating rhythms, and a culture of trust and continuous improvement."
  • Clear strategic priorities and measurable expectations
  • Consistent leadership engagement and individual coaching
  • Transparent portfolio and resource-capacity management
  • Cross-functional collaboration and fast escalation
  • Leadership development and succession planning
  • Accountability for outcomes, not physical presence

The operating rhythm

A structured cadence keeps performance visible, speeds decisions and keeps a distributed team connected.

FrequencyLeadership practicePrimary purpose
DailyOperational huddles, as neededSurface immediate barriers, dependencies and delivery risks
WeeklyKPI and initiative performance reviewsTrack progress, address exceptions and reinforce accountability
WeeklyOne-on-ones with direct reportsCoach, remove barriers, align priorities and support development
MonthlyPortfolio and executive governance reviewsAssess portfolio health, resources, risk, strategic alignment and benefit realization
QuarterlyStrategic priority and portfolio alignmentReassess priorities, capacity, performance and emerging business needs
QuarterlySkip-level engagement meetingsHear frontline challenges and keep the organization connected
Twice a yearExtended-organization leadership sessionsReinforce strategy and support talent two levels below direct reports

The exact cadence adapts to each organization's needs and existing governance.

Governance should speed up decisions and reinforce accountability. It should never become bureaucracy.
